Venus Williams is still trying to win the Australian Open.

The legend will play in the first Grand Slam tournament of the 21st century as a main-draw wild card. Since 1998 she has appeared in 22 tournaments.

Williams will be competing at the Australian Open in January.

The Australian community has always supported me, I have been competing in the country for over two decades. I'm looking forward to playing for the fans again and making more memories at the tournament.

In the past, she was a threat to win any event she entered, but she only played four tournaments in the last four years. She is currently ranked 1,007th.

There is no doubt that Williams is one of the sport's greatest players.

The American has won seven Grand Slams, five of them at Wimbledon and two at the U.S. Open. She reached the final of the Australian Open in 2003 and again in the same year.

She has been to the semifinals or better nine times.

Since Serena is no longer around, Venus won't have to worry about losing to her sister in the finals again.

The tournament will begin on January 16 at the park.
