The game ended in a 3-3 draw after extra time and the South Americans won the shoot-out 4-2.

Kylian Mbappe became the first player in 50 years to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, while Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria scored for Argentina.

The golden trophy was lifted by Messi at Lusail Stadium as Argentina sealed their third world title.
