'We are sick and devastated': Pinal Co. sheriff mourns death of son and granddaughter

The sheriff thanked the community for an "outpouring of love" after the deaths of his son and granddaughter.

A man and a baby are dead and a woman is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash on Friday. Cooper Lamb, the son of Sheriff Mark Lamb, was named one of the victims by Gilbert police.

In an email to The Arizona Republic, Mark Lamb said, "We are just so touched and grateful for the abundance of love, support and prayers from our friends, the people of Arizona and friends from all over the nation." We are thankful for the citizens and first responders who helped us.

A red passenger car was hit by a silver truck that was travelling at what appeared to be normal speeds. The car tried to turn left on Cole Drive.

Gilbert Fire and Rescue first responders tried to save the lives of the three people in the red car, but Cooper Lamb and the baby were dead at the scene. The driver of the red car had a life threatening injury.

According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Cooper Lamb's fiancée and mother are in critical condition.

Mark Lamb and his wife Janel are in need of money for their funeral and medical bills. Mark Lamb is praying for his son's fiancée and her family.

Mark Lamb said that they are clinging to their faith in Jesus Christ and each other even though they are sick and devastated.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt. The truck driver was arrested after an investigation by the Gilbert Police Department.
