Donald Trump urged holdout Republicans in the House GOP Conference to abandon their opposition to Kevin McCarthy's bid to become speaker, warning them that they were playing a very dangerous game.

The California Republican, who has been an ally of the former president, deserves a chance at leading the lower chamber, according to Trump. In January, Republicans have a slim 222-212 advantage after flipping the House.

Trump said that Kevin has worked very hard. He should get the shot. He's going to be strong, he's going to be good, and he's going to do what people want.

I'm friendly with many of the people who are against Kevin. Almost all of them are very much in favor of Trump. He said that he had told them that they were playing a dangerous game.

Five conservatives are still opposed to McCarthy's speakership.
