Argentina Wins World Cup Final Against France in Penalty Kicks

The World Cup final between Argentina and France was a nail-biter that ended in a shootout.

Everyone at the game was at the edge of their seat through the full 90 minutes of regulation and the extra 30 minutes that followed. Lionel Messi scored Argentina's third goal in extra time, and then Kylian Mbappe tied it up again, sending the match into penalty kicks.

After three straight goals from Argentina, and two misses from France, it was time for Gonzalo Montiel to put the ball in the back of the net to seal the deal. France's goalie, Hugo Lloris, dove in the other direction.

The rest of the Argentina squad did their job as well as Messi and Mbappe did. Two players messed with the dog.

It's a shame, because Kylian Mbappe was the only one on his team who kept them in the fight and he scored all 3 of France's goals. All that work was wasted.

There was a lot of soccer on display for the world to see.

The sports fans couldn't have asked for better. It was a good one for the books.

Messi is said to be retiring after this, and this is a beautiful bow-out for him. He's going to be the Player of the Tournament and every other honor available. He went out on top in the World Cup.
