Dean Pees was taken off the field on a stretcher after colliding with a New Orleans Saints player.

After a number of minutes on the 35-yard line, a cart and stretcher were brought out of the field. After stabilizing Pees' neck, they put him on the cart and took him off the field.

Pees was alert and responsive and was taken to the University Medical Center New Orleans for testing. Frank Bush will be in charge of the defense against the Saints.

The players were checking on Pees before he left the field. Head coach Arthur Smith, general manager Terry Fontenot, team president Rick McKay, and owner Arthur Blank were all around Pees after the collision.

Pees is 73 years old and is the oldest defensive coach in the league. After the Falcons hired Smith, he came out of retirement and joined the team.
