Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz's account was suspended on Saturday evening after she asked for a comment on a story, a move that comes a day after Musk restored the accounts of several other reporters who had been suspended.
The accounts of journalists who are in violation have been shut down by Musk.
Musk said that Lorenz's suspension was a temporary one and that it was due to "prior doxxing action".
Lorenz said in a Substack post that she was kicked off the social networking site after she asked Musk about a news story she and her colleague were working on.
Lorenz said she didn't know why she was suspended and what terms she had broken.
Harwell was one of the journalists whose account had been suspended by the social networking site.
Lorenz wrote that Musk's suspension of journalists who reported on him should worry anyone who values journalism and free expression.
The Washington Post, VOA News, the New York Times, MSNBC and CNN had their accounts suspended on Thursday because of Musk's new rules on sharing people's real time location. The platform shut down Mastodon's account along with several other accounts that tracked the locations of private jets belonging to billionaires including Musk. The continued existence of the account was seen as a sign of Musk's commitment to allow "free speech." Musk accused the owner of the ElonJet account and other journalists of endangering his and his family's life by sharing publicly available flight tracking data. The suspension of the journalists' accounts led to a widespread backlash against Musk. The accounts of most of the reporters were restored.
After acquiring Twitter, Musk promised to hand off moderation of the site to an independent council with a wide variety of viewpoints. The billionaire seems to have acted as the arbiter of what kind of content should or shouldn't be allowed on the platform. In the last month, Musk has restored accounts of banned users, including former President Donald Trump. Musk has used his account to target people who he doesn't like very much.
