According to local reports, a Georgia Republican was arrested after he was accused of stealing narcotics from elderly people.
Records at the Barrow County Detention Center show that Danny Rampey was arrested on Thursday.
He won the primary in the state's 119th House district and will take office in the new year.
Rampey is a manager at the assisted living center.
According to court records reviewed by Insider, Rampey faced 19 charges by the time he was released from jail.
There are also six counts of exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, six of obtaining a controlled substance by theft, and one of possession of a controlled substance.
The Athens Banner-Herald reported that the Barrow County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation after receiving reports of suspicious activity at Magnolia Estates.
In an interview with the paper, Sheriff Smith said that there is video footage of Rampey going into the assisted living complex and taking medication.
Magnolia Estates and Rampey's home were searched on Thursday. The Gwinnet Daily Post reported that Rampey was arrested as he was leaving the estate grounds.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office, Magnolia Estates, and Rampey were contacted by Insider but did not reply immediately.
As the investigation continues, investigators could file for more charges.
