According to a new report, NBC News banned Ben Collins from talking about Musk on the air out of concern that his criticisms of the new CEO would lead to personal attacks.
Collins was not allowed to talk about Musk on the air of NBC and MSNBC because he advocated banning disfavored public figures from tech platforms. Collins spent weeks attacking Musk over his decision to restore the accounts of a number of right-wing commentators.
Collins ridiculed Musk for failing to realize that his deputy general counsel had previously worked for the FBI.
The first part of the "Twitter Files", internal documents revealing the old management's politically skewed content moderation regime, was not approved by Musk. According to Matt Taibbi, one of the independent journalists Musk enlisted to synthesise and share the "Twitter Files" with the public, Baker was fired byTwitter earlier this month.
NBC did not respond right away.
The Washington Post's Drew Harwell, the New York Times' Ryan Mac, and CNN's Donie O' Sullivan were all banned by Musk because they exposed the location of his private jet. Musk said the suspensions would be lifted after a week.
Collins kept a running list of the journalists who were kicked out of work.
NBC and other publications have been preparing to fight Musk. The Times reported on Friday that it would be canceling the space on Saturday.
