Drew Timme's team got the better of Alabama's young team.
Timme matched his season-high with 29 points in the win.
Timme had a double-double and made 12 of 18 shots in the victory. A road victory over Houston for the nation's top rebound team was one of the highlights of the four-game winning streak by the Tide.
Timme said that they're a tough bunch. The Houston game was watched by everyone. You are classified as a tough team if you rebound with them. We knew it would be a battle, and that's what we love.
Alabama outrebounded Gonzaga but still collected 12 fewer than usual due to the teams shooting better than 50%.
It was a familiar situation for the Zags, who are 7-1 in regular-season games against teams ranked in the top five.
Miller had 26 points in the second half. The nation's top- scoring freshman had just delivered a 21-point second half in a 91-88 victory over Memphis but couldn't carry his team to victory.
Timme got a lot of help from the team of rookies.
Six people scored in double-figures for the bulldogs. Malachi Smith scored 12. The two men each scored 11.
The team made 20 of 27 shots in the second half.
Bradley scored 18 points in his first start.
Miller made six of 11 3-pointers to keep it close. It was the most points scored by a Tide player in over a year.
The Tide would not have been in the game without his second-half surge.
The defense was struggling. In the second half, he was able to get some buckets.
Smith scored on a 3-pointer and a drive in the ninth minute of the second half.
The senior Timme and one of the nation's top rookies went toe to toe. Both performed well and were praised by each other.
Miller was called alottery-level guy.
He is a great player. When his team needed him, he stepped up.
According to Miller, Timme has the best feet in the country.
He said he'd never seen anything like that. He is difficult to guard. He gave us trouble at the beginning of the game and at the end of the game.
The way forward.
Nine turnovers is a low number for the bulldogs. After a loss to Alabama in Seattle, they shot 40 of 70 from the floor. The team has reached 100 points four times this season.
Miller's teammates made just 2 of 14 attempts from the 3-point line. Alabama made 21 mistakes. Thefreshmen scored 16 points, including seven from Bradley and two Miller 3s.
The schedule is difficult.
Alabama fell short of its fourth win over a Top 25 team, but Oats is hoping the tough non conference schedule pays dividends for his team.
He said that they would get better. We play good games to figure out what we need to improve on and we have a lot of work to do.
