San Francisco-SEA

Saturday

Minnesota 39, Indianapolis 36

Vikings

In the most dramatic way imaginable, the Vikings overcame a 33 point deficit to beat the Colts and win the division title. The players were told in the locker room at halftime that they would win if they scored five touchdown in the second half. Since Kevin O'Connell took over, they have won 11 of the 14 games they've played.

Who will we see in the playoffs? Is it the one that fell behind 33-0 at halftime, allowing a blocked punt to be returned for a touchdown and an interception to be returned for another? Is it the one that scored 39 unanswered points the rest of the game? No one was willing to say that the Vikings had solved all their problems, but quarterback KirkCousins said that Saturday was something that doesn't happen to average people.

The next game is against the Giants. The time has not yet been determined.

Colts

Many factors contributed to the Colts' second-half breakdown. The offense and defense failed to prevent big plays. The Colts didn't score a touchdown in the final 40 minutes of the game. The Indianapolis defense was unable to stop the Vikings on offense. Minnesota ripped gains of 64, 63, 35 and 21 yards in the second half. A comeback of this magnitude requires a collapse.

The Colts have offensive issues. The Colts made some strange play calling decisions in this game. You would think that the loss of Jonathan Taylor might affect their play selection. The Colts ran 37 combined runs for their backups. It made sense when the Colts were up by a large amount. The question of whether the Colts got too conservative is posed by their lack of production in the running game. Jackson and Moss carried the load with an average of 3.8 yards per carry.

The next game is against the Bolts. The time has not yet been determined.

Thursday

San Francisco 21, Seattle 13

49ers

Brock Purdy fought through a rib injury to help the Niners win the division. The Niners still want to win the Super Bowl, but it's too early to say. No rookies have ever started a Super Bowl and no one has ever won it. The Niners have won seven in a row, and Purdy has been unaffected by the attention.

How will the Niners handle their last three games? The 49ers can't drop below the third seed in the playoffs, but they can rise to second. The Niners need to get Purdy as many snaps as possible before the playoffs in order to keep their foot off the gas.

The next game is against the Commanders. The time has not yet been determined.

Seahawks

The Seahawks have a long way to go before they can compete with the 49ers. Their 20-point loss in Santa Clara in Week 2 was indicative of that, as the 49ers blew out opponents while the Seahawks struggled against under-.500 teams. The 49ers dominated the game from start to finish with a third-string quarterback in Brock Purdy and no Deebo Samuel. It showed how large the gap has become between the 49ers and the Seattle team that once owned them.

Is the Seahawks still in the playoffs? It's still very much up in the air. As of Friday, they had a 37% chance of getting one of the two wild-card spots in the playoffs. Seattle has a head-to-head victory over New York and the Giants and Commanders have seven wins each. It will be difficult. Tyler Lockett will be out for at least one game as he heals from hand surgery.

The next game is at the Kansas City Chiefs. The time has not yet been determined.
