According to sources, the Dodgers agreed to a one-year, $10 million contract with veteran designated hitter J.D.

After batting.270/.341/.448 with 16 home runs and 62 runs scored in his first season with Boston, the 35-year-old right-handed hitter experienced a 77 point drop-off in his on- base percentage. One of the most productive offensive players in the sport over the course of the last four years was Martinez, who slashed.307/.373/.581 and averaged 34 home runs.

It is possible that the end of Turner's tenure in Los Angeles is near. Max Muncy, who the Dodgers have said will get an opportunity in 2023, would be a big part of the majority of the plate appearances at designated hitter. If no other additions are made on the infield, Muncy would be the everyday second baseman and Vargas would be the everyday third baseman, with the exception of one day.

The Dodgers could still use a center fielder.

Robert Van Scoyoc, the hitting coach who changed his approach and resurrected his career, will be returning to Los Angeles. Mookie Betts will also be rejoining him. He started 28 games in left field in 2021, despite only being a designated hitter.

Fan Sided was the first to report on the agreement.
