Vikings complete historic comeback in OT to clinch NFC North (1:52)

The Vikings came back from a 33 point deficit to beat the Colts 39-36 on Saturday. There is a time and a place for this.

5:24 PM ET

The Vikings are the largest comeback team in the history of the league. That should sink in.

It was bigger than the Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills made it to the playoffs.

The Minnesota Vikings came back from a 33-0 halftime deficit to beat the Indianapolis Colts in overtime. The Vikings hold a one-game lead over the 49ers for the second seed in the playoffs.

Minnesota Vikings

They will talk about this game for a long time in Minnesota. The Vikings didn't get on the board until the third quarter. They went on to win on Greg Joseph's 40-yard field goal.

Fans at U.S. Bank Stadium booed the team as they entered the halftime locker room, already nervous about the team's 10-3 record. The majority saw a day in franchise history that will last a long time.

It was understandable that they were frustrated. The Vikings had a punt blocked for a touchdown. Dalvin Cook's fumbled the ball in the first quarter ended a promising drive, and the quarterback had an pick up for a touchdown.

The game is completely historic. It repeats. The history of the NFL has never seen something like that.

The biggest hole in the game plan was Kevin O'Connell's inability to account for the two touchdown returns by Chandon Sullivan. The play was dead on the first one because of the fumbled ball. Sullivan was given credit for the recovery of the fumbled ball but it was ruled out at the 46-yard line. On the next possession, the Vikings did not score.

In the first half, he managed just 43 yards, but in the second half he threw for over 500 yards and four scores. He has seven comebacks from fourth-quarter deficits this season. The Vikings have had at least two quarterbacks throw four touchdown passes in the second half of a game.

The Vikings have tied the most such wins in a season with 10.

The next game is against the Giants There was an event on December 24th.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts do not do boring things. After giving up a 33-0 run in the fourth quarter of their previous game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Colts allowed the Vikings to complete the largest comeback in NFL history.

The Colts' offensive struggles were brought to the fore in this game. The Vikings mounted a huge comeback after they were down 33-0 at halftime. In the last 40 minutes, Indianapolis scored three points.

The Colts have lost four in a row and are 4-9-1 under Jeff Saturday.

The Colts have a tendency to fall apart in the second half of the season. They dominated most of the game against the Eagles before giving up a game-winning touchdown. They played well against Dallas before committing four turnovers in a row to end the game.

The Colts have been struggling and this game was a continuation of what they've been doing.
