NC Central spoils Jackson State's undefeated season with thrilling OT win (1:43)

In Saturday's Celebration Bowl, North Carolina Central beat Jackson State 41-34 in overtime, ruining the coach's bid for an perfect season.

Jackson State's first overtime possession was stopped by the Eagles' defense at the goal line. The game was considered the championship of teams from historically Black colleges and universities because of the drop on third down by the tight end.

Alejandro Mata's tying extra point was set up by the 19-yard touchdown pass by Sanders. It was the fourth and final touchdown pass of the game for the quarterback.

Jackson State was denied a perfect season. The football coach at Colorado wants to finish the season with his team first. The father and son are going to Boulder.

The win by NC Central gave the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference a 6-1 advantage over teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

NCCU took the lead on a 7 yard run by Latrell Collier. The Tiger's answered with a drive that included a fourth-down pass to Martin.

Richard ran for 97 yards and scored two times. Richard scored the game's first touchdown on a 3- yard drive. Richard had a 21-yard run, a 30-yard catch on a trick play and a 5-yard scoring run in the first quarter.

Jackson State defeated North Carolina Central 21-7 in the second half, thanks in large part to the dual-threat skills of the player. The quarterback completed 13 of 14 passes for 178 yards and two touchdown and had four carries for 34 yards and a score in the half as the tigers took a 21 17 lead.

The Eagles reclaimed the lead after a fake punt. Kyle Morgan ran 43 yards after taking the snap on the fake punt. Adrian Olivo missed an extra point that would have given North Carolina Central a 23-21 advantage.

The field goal by Olivo gave the lead to five points.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell attended the game in support of his nephew, Jackson State sophomore defensive lineman Charlton "Charlie" Goodell. The younger Goodell is the son of Roger Goodell's brother.

The way forward.

The Eagles had a strong running game. NC Central had a large advantage in rushing yards thanks to a balanced running attack.

Jackson State was able to bounce back from an early 10 point deficit. He produced as a runner and passer and led the comeback.
