Four chimpes are on the run after being shot dead and three of them escaped from their enclosure.
The animals escaped from their enclosure at midday on Wednesday and were met with gunfire from the staff. One chimp was wounded by the bullets and returned to its enclosure alone, but has not received medical attention, meaning that it could have died.
The Furuvik zoo was closed at the end of the season when the Chimpanzees escaped. The deaths of the group of animals have caused outrage in Sweden. The zoo insisted that the killings were needed.

Chimpanzees can be seen as peaceful, but they are not. They are fast and strong. The zoo said on its Facebook page that it can quickly escalate into a life threatening situation. Three of the Chimpanzees had to be euthanized because they had left their enclosure. We take this very seriously. Our priority is the safety of people.
The zoo has identified three of the dead chimp as Linda, Santino and Torsten. Linda was brought to the zoo after her family was murdered. Santino was the favorite chimp of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and was known for his love of art. Victoria and Princess Madeleine are thought to own paintings by the ape.
A juvenile named Torsten was born in captivity in 2019. Maria-Magdalena and Tjobbe are two of the survivors. The adopted daughter of Linda may have died from her wounds after being shot by the staffs.
The staff at the park would not have been able to anesthetize the animals without putting themselves in danger.
"Anesthesia is not an option when a chimp ventures outside its enclosure at risk to human safety," the zoo wrote. You have to be very close to the animal to shoot with an arrow. The fact that it can take up to 10 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect would make it a great danger. You have to shoot to kill when a chimp is free.
The decision to put down the animals received a lot of opprobrium.
Ing-Marie Persson, who worked with the Chimpanzees at the park for 30 years, told the newspaper that it should not have been necessary to shoot the apes. It's not right. It was so badly done.
According to the Animal Welfare Act of Sweden, animal enclosures have to be escape-proof.
"It's clear that this hasn't been the case," said a police spokesman.
Chimps have more fast-twitch muscle fibers than humans, which makes them 1.35 times stronger. Chimpanzees are more likely to attack humans in captivity than in the wild because they are more used to humans. Chimpanzees look at people's faces, feet, hands and genitals. Chimpanzees may pose a greater danger to themselves and others due to the fact that they are often dissatisfied and understimulated in human environments.
