Norwich players dejected
Norwich have won the title in their past two Championship seasons but are now losing touch with the automatic promotion places

Dean Smith said that sections of the Carrow Road crowd had been waiting for his side to struggle after their home defeat.

The Canaries lost at home for the fourth time in seven games after an own goal and a Tyrhys Dolan strike gave the visitors a 2-0 win.

"I think a lot of them have been waiting for this period to happen, or wanting it to, I don't know," said the head coach of the team.

Despite the fact that we have the second or third highest shots in the league, a narrative has been set about it not being good football.

Sometimes you can't change what people think about football. You feel like we have to score two very quick goals at home to get people on our side, so our next game is away from home

I know you can turn things around and we will be working hard to do that.

The result saw them return to third place, two points behind the automatic promotion places.

Six fresh faces were brought into the starting XI and they wasted no time in taking the initiative, as Tyler Morton floated a free-kick towards Sam Gallagher and it flew off the unfortunate Gibson and into the net.

The early goal made it hard for them to get into the game and Thomas Kaminski was rarely tested.

The Canaries failed to impress their fans, who booed the team at the end of each half and chanted their displeasure at Smith.

Smith made attacking changes in the second half with Onel and Adam coming on.

Idah's first touch let him down, while Josh Sargent was stopped by Adam Wharton's timely pick up.

Four minutes from the end of the game, Sammie Szmodics and Ben Brereton Diaz were able to link up and release Dolan, who cut inside and hit a shot that went past the keeper.

Smith said that they were under pressure from their own supporters for not getting it forward quicker.

Some of the stick the players got today was not good.

We win today and we go third. At the moment, people's mindset is there and they are entitled to their opinions.

Jan Dahl Tomasson is the boss of the football team.

A great day and a brilliant performance. We asked for a response from the players after last week's performance.

We pressed our opponents right away. A lot of energy was used by us. Fans of them were against them.

We changed six things. The players that showed up were prepared. They did a great job despite being young and inexperienced.

The last pass wasn't perfect, but it was great to keep a clean sheet. We did a good job against a premier league team.
