The English Premier League, as well as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, have all been postponed due to the widespread outbreak of coronavirus.

It has been said in a report by that Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's Spanish head coach, and Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea F.C. both confirmed testing positive for the coronavirus infection. Arsenal, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester and Watford players are currently in insolation awaiting tests.

Furthermore, UEFA 's Champion League has postponed matches between Manchester City v Real Madrid, Juventus v Lyon, Barcelona v Napoli and Bayern Munich v Chelsea. The Europa Leagues' Manchester United, Wolves and Rangers games have also been postponed until further notice. Liverpool fans are particularly unhappy as their team was on track for victory for the first time in 30 years.

Although the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson did not place a restriction on large sporting events, the Premier League and UEFA have both decided to halt proceedings for safety reasons. Tens of thousands of fans were expected to turn up to watch the matches.

The Premier League is expected to be postponed until at least April 3, while the scheduling of Euro 2020 is yet to be announced.
