According to court documents obtained by Insider, the estranged husband and wife of a Georgia congressman have moved to finalize their divorce settlement.

According to court documents, which were filed on December 16 in Floyd County, Georgia Superior Court, the marriage is "irretrievably broken" and that the two people want a divorce.

All issues of the marriage were resolved on December 13, 2022, according to the joint consent motion. The true and accurate copy of the Settlement Agreement is maintained by the parties. There are no more issues that need to be worked out between the parties.

The court filing did not include details of the settlement.

The divorce petition was filed in September by the husband.

The couple have been in a state of separation for a long time.

In the earlier petition, it was stated that the couple had acquired certainmarital debt which should be equitably divided, and that the court should make a fair and equitable distribution of said assets and liabilities.

He asked for a complete divorce from the congresswoman.

Insider asked the congresswoman for comment on Saturday, but she did not reply immediately.

The Georgia lawmaker praised her husband's parenting skills after the initial petition was filed.

She said that she was a firm believer in marriage. A family is formed by a husband and wife. We formed a family with three great children. He gave me the title of mom. I will always be thankful for how great a father he is.
