A passenger who spent over $600 on a return train ticket was angry at the rail company for cancelling the train two minutes after it was supposed to leave.
Gateau Chocolat, a drag performer based in the UK, traveled from southern England to Bangor in northern Wales and back the following day for a show. He told Insider that there was a surprise 60th birthday party for a husband and wife who had seen Gateau perform.
There is one change at London Euston which is a major station in the capital. Gateau said there was no first class available on the train because of a shortage of staff.
It was a nightmare to get back to BRIGHTON the next day.
Gateau said he was booked on the first direct train from Bangor to London in the morning. The train was canceled two minutes after it was supposed to leave. He didn't know why the train wasn't running anymore.
Passengers were told to wait for another train in around 50 minutes. He said this train was also canceled and posted a picture of it on social media.
Gateau took a train from Manchester to another train that left late.
Gateau described the staff who were in first class as "phenomenon."
Gateau had to travel on five trains and take 10 hours to get back to his home.
Gateau and the client thought it would be simpler to travel by train. He booked to travel in first class because he knew he would get a seat and dinner before the show started.
Gateau posted pictures of his tickets and the train cancellation on the social networking site.
If Le Gateau was going to take the situation further, a link was provided by Avanti. The ticket was just shy of $600, Le Gateau said.
Le Gateau said that Avanti was a "master in poor service, not just in delivering their first class product but also in customer relations."
In the last few months, our sole focus has been to do everything we can to return to a more resilient operation and deliver more services for our customers and communities.
