The audience's reaction to the first sequel, The Way of Water, will be a big factor in how many follow-up films are made. It's all but certain that part three will be released in December. It's not certain if parts four and five will be out in the next two decades. If those movies don't happen, we'll just be wondering what would've happened next. It's not at all, says CAMERON.
The writer/director explained in a new interview that if the third film ends up being the last one, it will be satisfying because the final two movies are completely different.
