Chris Paul graduates from Winston-Salem State University (0:34)

Chris Paul received his degree as he graduated from the university. There is a time and a place.

Chris Paul graduated from a college in North Carolina.

On Friday, the Suns guard graduated from the university. A degree in mass communications is what Paul received.

Paul played basketball for Wake Forest from 2003 to 2005 before entering the NBA draft as a sophomore. He went back to school at the university in 2020.

After the ceremony, Paul said he didn't want it to be about him. I wanted it to be as normal as possible. The students here have been working hard for a long time to get their degree. I didn't want to show them up on their special day. They had many family and friends here to support them. I wanted to be a graduate of that school.

In the Suns' victory over the LA Clippers on Thursday, Paul had 15 points, 13 assists and 7 assists. The time was around 11:30 pm. The flight from Van Nuys, California toWinston-Salem took about 3 hours, 40 minutes and arrived at 6:30 a.m. There is an hour and a half later.

Paul went to the graduation two hours later.

At least 30 minutes before the ceremony, the 11-time NBA All-Star stood in a parking lot with all the other graduating students in the cold. Paul participated in the ceremony. A lot of people took selfies with the point guard at the graduation.

There was a feeling of completion when Paul walked across the stage. I knew my family was there. I used to play high school games in that annex. It was great to look over and see my family who had been there for so long. It felt normal when I saw my family.

The university is historically black. At the beginning of the graduation ceremony, Paul got applause when it was announced he was funding a bank account for each graduate that would have $2,500 in value.

At 2:50 p.m., Paul left for Phoenix. There is an hour and a half later. On Saturday, the Suns play the New Orleans Pelicans.

I don't know how to get ready for the game. I'm going to be with my family. It's insane to be with my family. I will be with my family for the next 10 days, and it's my favorite place. We'll take this flight back, try to get to the house tonight, get my body worked on, and hopefully lay and watch a movie with them.
