The January 6 rioter was sentenced to five years in prison for chasing a Capitol police officer up a staircase.

At his sentencing hearing on Friday, Doug Jensen stated that he could not change his past. Scott MacFarlane said that he can only look to the future.

He wants to return to being a family man.

Jensen's lawyer blamed the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory for the actions of the rioters after he got into the Capitol building.

A federal judge sentenced Jensen on Friday. According to MacFarlane, the sentencing range for the case was between 57 to 71 months, with prosecutors asking for a 64 month sentence.

According to the Department of Justice, Jensen had convictions for obstruction of an official proceeding, obstructing a law enforcement officer, and assault on a law enforcement officer. The man was found guilty of two crimes.

Federal agents say that Jensen entered the US Capitol on January 6.

According to the DOJ, Jensen "faced off" with the Capitol Police officer and then led the pack that chased him around the Capitol.

MacFarlane said that Jensen was accused of wanting to be the poster boy of the Insurrection.

According to MacFarlane, prosecutors said in court that we can't be a society without rules.
