New York Jets team doctors are not clearing quarterback Mike White for contact, meaning that he will not start against the Detroit Lions.
White was hurt during the loss to the Bills. Jets doctors are not allowing him to play on the field despite his desire to do so.
"Mike White, who is an absolute warrior and has been doing everything he can this week to find another option to get him on the football field, to find someone who willclear him for contact, has exhausted every measure he can because he wants to be out there for his teammates," said
Wilson is back as the Jets' starting quarterback as they look to snap a two-game losing streak and keep their playoff hopes alive.
Wilson could return to the starting position.
White was hurt during the loss to the Bills when he was hit by Milano. White went to a Buffalo-area hospital for a precautionaryCT Scan after leaving the game twice but returning to finish.
White's injury will be looked at by the Jets on Monday, but they will not have a long time to think about it with New York playing Jacksonville on Thursday.
The wide receiver and the defensive tackle were both ruled out.
Wilson had moved up to the second position behind White. Wilson thought he was the Jets' quarterback of the future.
Wilson believes in himself. I have all the confidence in the world but you have to be able to prove it.
Prior to being benched, Wilson had gone 5-2 as the starter but had completed an abysmal 55.6% of his passes with four touchdown and five turnovers. White is 1-2 as the starter and has completed 80 of 129 passes for 952 yards and three touchdown.
The Jets have a 34% chance of making the playoffs if they beat the Lions. If they lost, their chances would fall to 14 percent.
