The first trailer for Barbie is here and it is very clear that the movie is not going to be about Barbie being a Dream House or a sports car. There are Dream Houses, sports cars and Ken dolls. The evolution of a whole aisle in the toy store is also teased. You can check it out.
I don't know what to think about this trailer. Barbie as the monolith, the smash cut of the flying doll into a logo, or the young girl smashing her toys with her older doll. It is so strange and funny. The first part of the trailer may or may not be in the movie.
The second part of the trailer is from the movie. It is the same color as a Barbie movie. Coming off the back of that 2001 parody, you have to think writer-director Greta Gerwig is going for the fences here. We can't wait.
