There is a person named Henry Cavill.
It has been a wild couple of weeks for Henry Cavill, who went from playing two heroic roles that everyone thought he was perfect for, to neither of those. After it was announced that he would be leaving The Witcher after next season, there was speculation that he would use that time to film a new Superman movie.
The Rock doesn't control the DC Universe. A new, younger version of Superman was the plan for now, as the new heads of the DCU had different ideas, and met with him to tell him that no, he wouldn't be playing Superman again anytime soon.
Fans were wondering if he would return to The Witcher after he posted a very gracious statement about it.
He isn't doing that. Multiple entertainment industry sources have said that is not the plan, and just as that began to circulate, it was announced what the next big project would be. He is an executive producer and star of a series for Amazon.
If you know Henry Cavill, you know that he's a giant nerd, which is a compliment. He was playing a game that was related to Superman. He wears tank tops while building PCs. He is a huge fan of the board game of the same name. If there is a dream project for Henry Cavill, it is probably not playing James Bond.

This announcement was all ready to go in the wake of this Superman news, and it seems likely that the original plan was for Cavill to leave The Witcher, do this Warhammer show instead, and also star in Superman films. There is no Superman, so he is free for the full amount of the game.
He sounded over the moon about the announcement of the game.
“I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me. The opportunity to shepherd this cinematic universe from its inception is quite the honour and the responsibility,” said Henry Cavill. “I couldn’t be more grateful for all the hard work put in by Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. One step closer to making a nigh-on lifelong dream come true.”
This may be a while off, as it sounds like the earliest stages of the project, but no doubt he will do everything he can to make it happen. It seems like his departure from The Witcher was not related to Superman, but a combination of this project being on the horizon, and him not liking the direction of the show, which has left from the source material. He left three seasons into a five season adaptation of the books because of the tension.
What seemed like a pretty bad week for Cavill losing two huge roles has turned into a celebration as he gets to pursue a huge passion project with an Amazon-sized budget. It's good for him.
