The format of the World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada will be reconsidered.

Infantino said that would be looked at after the success of the four teams at the World Cup.

Infantino said the groups of four have been great.

You didn't know who went through until the last minute.

We need to re- discuss the format. In the next meeting, this will be on the agenda.

Some exciting final games were played in the group stages of the tournament.

Since the men's World Cup expanded to 32 teams, the four-team group format has been used.

The best World Cup ever - Infantino

Infantino spoke at a news conference after the council meeting.

With the third-place play-off and final to go, he said 3.27 million spectators had attended the games compared with 3.3 million at the World Cup.

The best World Cup ever was made possible by everyone involved, according to Infantino.

There have been no incidents during the matches. It has been a happy place.

There is something happening when we talk about football becoming truly global, with a team from Africa reaching the semi-finals for the first time.

For the first time, a woman refereeed a match.

It has been a huge success, with over five billion views. It has been important for the future of all of us that the fans meet the Arab world.

A number of European nations planned to wear OneLove armbands during matches to promote diversity and inclusion but did not because of possible sanctions from world football governing body Fifa.

Hansi Flick said his players covered their mouths in order to convey a message to the world.

It's not about prohibiting, it's about respecting regulations, said Infantino.

You need to respect and protect football if you want to express your beliefs in a respectful way.

Fans of football teams want to come and enjoy the game. We are here for this. I believe we are defending values in the World Cup.

"But I also believe these fans who come to the stadium and all those billions watching on TV maybe - and we should think about that - they feel everyone has their own problems, they just want to spend 90 minutes without having to think about anything else than just enjoying a few moments of pleasure

'A legacy of exploitation and shame'

The build-up to the World Cup was overshadowed by issues such as the treatment of migrant workers and the stance on same-sex relationships.

Human Rights Watch criticized the chief executive of the World Cup for showing a callous disregard when he said "death is a natural part of life" when asked about the death of a migrant worker.

The Human Rights Watch said that the World Cup in 2022 would end with no commitment to remedy abuses, including unexplained deaths, that migrant workers suffered to make the tournament possible.

The creation of a compensation fund for migrant workers and their families is one of the things that human rights groups and football associations want to see.

The legacy of exploitation and shame will be left by the migrants who prepared and delivered the tournament unless a remedy is provided.

Infantino said that every loss of life is a tragedy and that they did everything they could to change the legislation to protect the workers. We are doing everything we can to help the future.

We want to bring this experience into the future and make sure we can help and leverage the World Cup and spotlights on it to make lives of people and their family a bit better.
