Mastodon is a competing social-media platform that seems to be being blocked by Twitter.

Insider tried to publish ten messages from three different accounts, all of which contained links to Mastodon user profiles. The error message said that the link had been identified as potentially harmful. Visit our help center to find out more.

There were other users who noticed that they were unable to post links to Mastodon.

The official Mastodon account was suspended by the social media company. The accounts of CNN journalist Donie O' Sullivan, The Washington Post's Drew Harwell, The New York Times' Ryan Mac, and independent journalists were all suspended.

Musk and representatives for Mastodon did not reply immediately.
