Before rocket builders can send their boosters into space, they need to conduct multiple static fire tests.

The vehicle must be secured to the ground before it can be fired up.

When the first flight of the Super Heavy rocket takes place in the coming months, it will be powered by the next- generation Starship spaceship.

While most videos of engine tests show the vehicle from the side, SpaceX decided to do something a little differently this time around by placing a camera directly above the Starship when it fired a single engine for about six seconds at its Star base facility in Texas on Thursday. The footage is amazing.

We assume the camera was attached to a drone and that the video was shared by the company.

The test is the same from the usual angle.

A couple of months ago, Musk showed a static fire test of seven of the Super Heavy's engines.

The Super Heavy will be the most powerful rocket ever to have been launched. With 17 million pounds of thrust, it is more than double that of the Saturn V rocket that propelled American astronauts to the moon five decades ago.

The Super Heavy and Starship will be used by NASA to carry astronauts and supplies to the moon and could even be used for the first crewed mission to Mars in the near future.

The first civilian flight to the moon will take place before those missions. Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa has already bought all the seats and selected his fellow passengers for a week long adventure that will involve a flyby of our nearest neighbor before returning home.
