The account that had more than 100,000 followers as of Sunday and was listed on Mastodon's website was suspended on Thursday.

Mastodon earlier in the day posted a link to an account on its own platform that could be used to track Musk's jet, just a day after a similar account was banned from the social networking site.

Following the ban of the jet tracker, Musk said that any account that doxes real-time location information of anyone will be suspended. Links to sites with real-time location information are posted.

Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell, Donie O' Sullivan of CNN, Ryan Mac from the New York Times, and Matt Binder from Mashable are just a few of the tech journalists and Musk critics who have been kicked off the social media platform.

It is not clear why the journalists were banned, but several of them appeared to be talking about Musk immediately before they were suspended.

The same doxxing rules apply to journalists as to everyone else.

Forbes did not get a response from Mastodon or Twitter.

Before buying the company, Musk promised to allow all speech permissible by law. Musk drew attention for reinstating former President Donald Trump and several other high-profile conservative figures but many of his other actions have not been in line with that ideal. "My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk," Musk said in a statement. The account was threatening the billionaire's family and he vowed to take legal action against the student who ran it. CNN reported last year that Musk offered the account's operator $5,000 to stop tracking his jet.

After Musk's acquisition of Twitter, Mastodon gained a lot of attention as a possible alternative for those abandoning the social network. Mastodon's network runs off a completely different model than the one used by the micro-messaging service. Many new users are confused by the process.

Mastodon has its own rewards, but it isn't a replacement for social media.

The account that was being used to track the private jet of Musk has been suspended.
