According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, signing third baseman Rafael Devers to a contract extension is the team's top priority.

One baseball executive thinks the Red Sox have to give Devers whatever he wants because they can't afford to lose him when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

In a text message to Heyman, Chaim said that the club's efforts to retain Devers are only intensifying and that getting him locked up is something they have wanted to do for a while.

Boston will have to pay at least $300 million to keep Devers in town beyond the 2023 campaign, since he is asking for more than that.

After the spending spree teams went on in this winter's market, it's laughable that Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reported in July that the RedSox were considering a trade with the Braves.

The difference in conversations was around $50 million, which was reported by MarinoPepén in November.

Since the departure of all of Boston's talent since the beginning of the year, keeping Devers around should be more of a priority than anything else.

He was selected to the All-Star Game for the second year in a row in 2022. He won a Silver Slugger award in the year 2021.

Over the course of six seasons, Devers is hitting.283/.342/.512 with 139 home runs and 455RBI. He has the potential to be a great Bostonian.
