After teasing a "major announcement" earlier this week, Donald Trump promoted the release of his "digital trading cards" on Thursday. In this economy, the cost of the digital cards is $100 a pop.
It may be the price you are willing to pay to get your hands on a limited edition version of the former president. There is a person dressed as a cowboy. He can shoot lasers out of his eyes. He pumped his fists in front of the arrow. No card will have more than 20 copies in existence and each card has a unique rarity. The site says it will mint tens of thousands of cards.
The cards are not related to Trump or any of his businesses. It looks like Trump licensed his name and likeness to a third party, which he has done for a number of products. According to the fine print, Donald J. Trump's name, likeness and image can be terminated or revoked according to its terms. Consumers are warned that Trump cards are not intended as investment vehicles.
The cards were called "very much like baseball cards, but hopefully much more exciting."
Purchase a Trump card and you will be entered into a contest to meet Trump for a cocktail hour or round of golf. Buying 45 cards is enough to get you invited to agala dinner with Trump. You are responsible for your own lodging and transportation to and from the event. It was a steal.
It is not known why Trump has been selling non-fungible token. There was a bad year for both fake and real money.
