In a world where cinematic adaptation of video games are still having a hard time, the announcement that Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding will be turned into a movie is baffling. If you think audiences are ready for a film about a man who throws grenades made of his bodily fluids at ghosts, you're wrong. There are some doubts that I have.
That is just the beginning of how punishingly weird Death Stranding is. I suggest you read Kotaku's review of the game to find out how bananas it is. Sam Bridges is a delivery person in a post- apocalyptic America where ghosts are very real and very dangerous. He takes a baby in a jar in order to see ghosts. The majority of the game is long, slow hikes from outpost to outpost.
Death Stranding sold five million copies and a sequel is in the works, so it makes sense to adapt the game into a film. It was cinematic as hell, not just in its visuals, but also in its cast, which included Mads Mikkelsen. It is not known if Reedus or any of the other actors will come back for the movie.
It was reported by Deadline.
