TikTok is testing a new landscape mode with a small group of users.

The feature will help it compete with other platforms.

TikTok is the world's fastest growing social media app.

There have been calls for it to be banned in the US and Australia.

The videos on TikTok would be up to 10 minutes in length.

The platform used to only allow short videos.

According to Paul Triolo, a technology expert at the Albright Stonebridge Group, TikTok has been moving into YouTube territory for some time now, with the longer version 10-minute videos.

The goal seems to be to appeal to a more mature audience of the type that uses YouTube for informational and learning videos, where a full-screen mode is more desirable.

According to Carolina Milanesi, the new feature will make TikTok more appealing to creators.

"Shorts have become a big part of YouTube's recent engagement, and TikTok must be worried about creators turning to YouTube for at least part of their content," she said.

Jonathon Hutchinson believes that both TikTok and YouTube will continue to thrive.

He said thatYouTube has higher production values and users take longer to align with them.

TikTok will continue to be the go-to out-of-pocket film production platform.

TikTok is the most downloaded app among young people around the world.

Several countries have been scrutinizing the app.

The US proposed a ban on TikTok due to national security concerns.

The platform is owned by a Chinese company.

There have been calls to ban TikTok in Australia and Taiwan. It was blocked by India in 2020.
