The latest video game to be published by Amazon will be a starring role for Tomb Raider. The next Tomb Raider game will be published by the company under a new deal with Crystal Dynamics. Amazon will provide full support and publishing the game around the world.
As part of a showcase for Unreal Engine game-making tools, the studio revealed it was working on a new Tomb Raider. The game is described as a narrative-driven adventure that continues the story of Tomb Raider. According to Amazon, the game will be multi platform and is currently in development. It is not known when it will be released.
Tomb Raider and Crystal Dynamics were two of the properties that the company sold off this year.
The game division at Amazon is best known for its New World game, which was launched last year, but it has also been pushing into publishing recently. At this year's Game Awards, Amazon published the action game Lost Ark, which was developed by Korean studio Smilegate, and at the beginning of the next decade, it will publish the Blue Protocol, an online game based on the popular Japanese TV show Blue Protocol.
The Tomb Raider deal is a new space for Amazon, as all of those titles are live service, online games.
