The University of Louisville has a similar position to that of the former head coach of the Boilermakers. He was a football player at the school from 1989 to 1993. From 2003 to 2008 he was an assistant coach for the Cards.
There was an inconsistent six-season run by the Boilermakers. They played in the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time this year.

On Tuesday, he was named as the new replacement. He worked at the University of Illinois as a defensive coach.
One of the best football players in Boilermaker history was the starting quarterback in 1998. He is the all-time leader in passing yards, completions and touchdown passes.
He led the Boilermakers to a share of the Big Ten title and an appearance in the Rose Bowl.
For the first time in a decade, the Boilermakers will have nine wins in a back-to-back season.
