A football player has been cleared of attacking a fan after the game.

The fan said that McBurnie stamped on him after the game.

Mr McBurnie said he jumped over the fan to protect his foot.

He was found not guilty of assault on Thursday.

The prosecution hasn't proved their case to the required standard according to the district judge.

Mr McBurnie pulled his left leg back and over Brinkley's pulled up leg.

The court heard that there was a pitch invasion at Forest's City Ground after the home team qualified for the play-off final.

Mr McBurnie was wearing a protective boot on his leg because he hadn't been playing.

The prosecution showed the video to the court which they said showed Mr McBurnie stamped on George Brinkley while he was on the floor.

The court heard that Mr Brinkley made a report to the police after the video footage went public.

He said he didn't take pictures of his injuries, but that he had bruised his leg.

"For someone so wedded to his phone and social media, one has to ask the obvious question, why didn't he take a picture of the bruised body?" said the District Judge.

He said that what this witness describes and what is reality as far as evidence is different.
