Robinson thought his cricket career was over as he struggled with fitness during the first half of the year.

Robinson played two first-class matches between January and July due to a back issue.

He returned to England in the second Test against South Africa.

He said he got an injury or illness, then another injury.

There were times when I didn't think I would play for England again.

I think I'm not going to be able to continue playing cricket, so I might have to look at other things.

Robinson has taken 20 in four Tests since his return, including eight on the tour of Pakistan, where England hold an unassailable 2-0 lead going into the final match of the series.

His impressive performances on unresponsive pitches in Pakistan come 11 months after he was questioned about his fitness by Jon Lewis, the England bowling coach.

It's probably the toughest year I've had as a professional cricketer.

I've proved to the world that I can do it in any conditions and it's been a great tour for me.

It has been difficult and there have been some dark days, but series wins like this make it worthwhile.

England have not beaten Pakistan in a series outside the UK in 22 years.

They have the chance to become the first team to score a clean sweep in the country if they win the remaining two Tests.

Robinson said it's an exciting time for cricket in England. If we can do three in a row, it will be a great effort.

The boys are ready for the final push to get the three points.
