Suplyd, a procurement platform for hotels, restaurants and Catering businesses in Egypt, has raised $1.6 million pre-seed funding.

Suplyd is a B2B platform that allows businesses in the food service industry to use digital order procurement, payment, and fulfillment.

Restaurants can get access to a wide range of products on demand through its platform, saving them hours in the process. It makes sure that businesses get the goods at a good price.

Suplyd plans to use the new funding to scale its technology and expand within and beyond Cairo, as well as explore other growth opportunities in the Middle-East and North Africa.

Everyone in the restaurant industry is looking into how to cut costs and reduce waste. The Egyptian market is extremely big yet unexplored, and that is where we direct our efforts for the next phase before we expand to other global markets.

Suplyd is bringing an e-commerce experience to the restaurant supply chain by reducing waste and saving businesses time and effort by communicating with suppliers.

Suplyd insights on demand patterns and trends that informs stocking are offered by the startup's network of tech-enabled fulfillment centers.

In a normal situation, restaurants have to go out to the market to find suppliers for their products. The fulfillment risk can be caused by tight delivery windows, order placement restrictions, or quantity issues.

Suplyd's digital procurement engine is a platform that makes it easy for restaurants to buy supplies at considerably cheaper rates than open market prices, exposes restaurants to a wide range of SKUs, and guarantees fulfillment through a single platform. He said it benefits suppliers with actionable insights when it comes to demand patterns.

Since launch, Suplyd has grown by 50% and currently serves 500 customers. The startup, which is stepping up competition for players like OneOrder, expects greater growth over the next year because of its plans to serve over 400,000 restaurants in Egypt.

In the Middle East, eating out is a major part of social life, but the supply chain that allows restaurants to serve customers is highly fragmented. Suplyd is building a platform to improve efficiency and reduce food waste and we are thrilled to support them.
