After suspending the account that tracks the movements of Musk's private jet, the company put it back online.

At the time of writing, Jack Sweeney's account is out of action as well.

The automated account set up by Sweeney has amassed more than half a million followers. Using publicly available data, it automatically posts a message every time Musk's jet leaves and lands, detailing departure and arrival locations, as well as the flight time, fuel costs, and CO2 emissions.

Musk has expressed displeasure at the automated account a number of times but recently promised not to ban it due to his stance on free speech.

Musk said that his commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following his plane.

My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk

After addressing the issue internally, the support team posted a series of updates about privacy.

Sharing someone else's live location is not allowed in most cases. The company said that here's what changed and why.

There is a risk of physical harm when someone shares their live location on social media. We will suspend accounts dedicated to sharing someone else's live location, and we will remove social media that shares this information.

You can still share your location on the social networking site. This policy does not prohibit the sharing of historical location information on social media. Content that shares location information related to a public engagement or event is allowed.

Musk said that posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn't a safety issue.

Real-time location info of anyone will be suspended as it is a physical safety violation. Links to real-time location information are posted. Someone traveled to a location on a slightly delayed basis and it isn't a safety problem.

The "not same day" element means that the account may have to be adjusted to make sure it isn't suspended a second time.

Any account doxxing real-time location info of anyone will be suspended, as it is a physical safety violation. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location info.

Posting locations someone traveled to on a slightly delayed basis isn’t a safety problem, so is ok.

Other accounts set up by Sweeney to follow the movements of private jets owned by Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and Jeff Bezos are still suspended.

Musk offered Sweeney $5,000 to get rid of theelonjet account. Sweeney asked for $50,000, but Musk didn't take it anymore.
