Donald Trump's standing with voters has hit its lowest point in over seven years, according to a survey.
More than half of registered voters have an unfavorable opinion of Trump, according to the survey. It is the lowest rating Trump has received since he launched his first presidential campaign.
The poll showed that Trump's decline was worse among independent voters. Only 25% of people have a favorable view of him, compared to 62% who have an unfavorable opinion.
While 70% of Republican voters still have a favorable view of Trump, 20% of them see him in an unfavorable light.
There was a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points in the survey.
According to a press release, the numbers are heading in the wrong direction. It would take at least six years to find less support for him from Republicans, independents and American voters.
President Joe Biden's job approval rating jumped to its highest rating in more than a year.
42% of respondents said they approved of Biden's work, while 42% disapproved, an increase from last month's survey, which showed his job approval rating at 36% and his disapproval at 45%.
Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election, has not yet said if he will run again. A majority of registered-voter respondents don't want Trump or Biden to be the next president.
There have been a number of recent polls showing Trump's support has waned or cratered in the wake of the election. Many of Trump's candidates lost high-profile races, which helped Democrats expand their Senate majority in a cycle that was expected to favor the GOP.
Ron DeSantis, a rising star in the Republican party who easily won reelection last month, has taken a sizeable lead over Trump in some early polls.
The Wall Street Journal had a poll that showed Ron DeSantis beating Trump by double digits. That result, which carried a margin of error of plus or minus 6 percentage points, came even as DeSantis has not announced a White House bid and just signed on to another term as Florida's governor. The poll did not ask about the congressman.
A source close to Trump said that a recent Morning Consult poll showed Trump holding court as the favorite, backed by 49% of potential GOP primary voters.
Donald Trump has not spent a lot of time on the campaign trail. His latest run for the White House has been marked by controversy and losses, and he dined with Ye, the rapper who has recently voiced a wide array of opinions. Herschel Walker was his preferred candidate in the Georgia Senate race, but he lost in a December election.
Trump said in a social media post that he would make a big announcement on Thursday. There was a video of Trump saying, "America needs a superhero," along with a cartoon version of Trump shooting lasers from his eyes in front of Trump Tower.
