Twitter disbanded its Trust and Safety Council

The Trust and Safety Council, which was made up of about 100 people, was dissolved on Monday.

In an email to the group, the company said that they are rethinking how best to bring external insights into their work. The trust and safety council is not the best structure to do this CNN correspondent Donie O'Sullivan shared a picture of the email.

The group was formed to fight hate speech, terrorism, and child exploitation on the platform, and was made up of independent civil and human rights advocates. The council didn't have the power to make decisions, but they did have the power to brief the representatives of the platform on how to spot and eradicate problems.

After buying the social network, Musk said he would form his own moderation council but has not made any further announcements. The Trust and Safety Council was dissolved by Musk after three council members resigned last week.

Gizmodo asked for comment, but did not get a reply.

It is a crime that they refused to take action on child exploitation for a long time. The claim was called false by the company's former CEO.

The chief executive of a nonprofit that informs users about childrens internet use was a member of the council. He told the Washington Post that they were fired because of the council's dissolution. The kind of advice he would likely get from a safety advisory council, which would likely tell him to rehire some of the staff he got rid of, is something he doesn't want.

The trust and safety council is not a governing body nor is it responsible for making decisions on the platform. The meeting was canceled and the council was dissolved less than an hour before the meeting was supposed to start.

According to CNN, the former head of the Trust and Safety Council had to flee his home after threats of violence were made against him.

Several members of the council have had their personal safety and well-being impacted by the actions of the staff of the social networking site.

He said, "Many of us have been in this space for a number of years, each with different expertise, but all with a desire to see healthy and diverse conversations and safety exist on platforms." The way members have been treated is not right.
