The God of War TV adaptation is in the works. In March, it was reported that Amazon was in talks to make a Prime Video series about the popular video game franchise.
Based on a synopsis shared by Deadline on Wednesday, it sounds as if the show will follow a similar story as the God of War remake.
The series follows Kratos, the God of War, who, after exiling himself from his blood-soaked past in ancient Greece, hangs up his weapons forever in the Norse realm of Midgard. When his beloved wife dies, Kratos sets off on a dangerous journey with his estranged son to spread her ashes from the highest peak—his wife’s final wish. Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one which will test the bonds between father and son, and force Kratos to battle new Gods and monsters for the fate of the world.
According to a statement from the Sony Pictures Television Studios president, the series will be live-action, but the story doesn't list any official cast members. Christopher Judge won a game award for his portrayal of Kratos in God of War. According to Deadline, the show will be available in over 200 countries and territories.
One of the show's executive producers is the director of God of War and Ragnark. He said on Wednesday that it would be a while until we saw more about it.
The God of War series is just one of many Sony has on the PS4. There is a new trailer for The Last of Us, which will debut on January 15th. There are a lot of things to look forward to, including Peacock's Twisted Metal show, a Gran Turismo movie in August 2023, and a new series on the streaming service.
