According to a new poll, Donald Trump is the least popular president in recent history with voters, as he launches a new presidential run and comes under legal scrutiny.

A survey of 1,614 U.S. adults found that 34% of them have a favorable view of Trump.

That marks Trump's lowest approval rating since July 2015, and is down from 42% who had a positive opinion of him in July.

During the GOP presidential primaries, Republican voters had their lowest approval of Trump since March 2016 and a majority of them still view him favorably, though their opinion of him has fallen.

Only 25% of independents have a positive view of Trump, which is the lowest number since May 2015, when the question was first asked.

A majority of registered voters don't want Trump to be the GOP candidate in the next election, while a majority of Republican voters do.
