Musk had claimed that he was committed to free speech.

Twitter bans @ElonJet Twitter handle

The location of Musk's private jet has been automatically posted on the account. The registration code for Musk's plane is N628TS.

This information is shared by the account using publicly available data. If someone were to leak information from a private system, it would be different as this is already in the public domain. Don't have a private plane if you don't want people to know where it is.

When he bought the company, Musk said it was all about preserving free speech. He said that his commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following his plane.

My commitment to free speech extends even to not banning the account following my plane, even though that is a direct personal safety risk

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 7, 2022

The account has just been permanently suspended and that doesn't mean that commitment doesn't last longer. The owner of the account, who goes by the name jxckSweeney, shared the suspension notice. Nothing has changed about the account in recent weeks, so we don't know what the rules were being broken.

The ElonJet account was shadow banned for a period of time, where it didn't show up in any searches.

It’s true ElonJet is search banned. But I’m not sure who to blame, it’s been search banned for months now way before Elon’a takeover. https://t.co/kYpSdFS6Tw

The shadow ban appeared to be undone once that was exposed.

Only to be replaced a few days later.

You can keep an eye on the location of the private jet by using social media.

Background on the @ElonJet Twitter account

When Musk drew attention to the account, it became popular for the first time. The teen behind the account received a direct message from Musk in late 2021.

Musk: “Ok, how about $5k for this account and generally helipng make it slightly harder for crazy people to track me?”

Sweeney: “Sounds doable, account and all my help. Any chance to up that to $50k? It would be great support in college and would possibly allow me to get a car maybe even a Model 3. Would love to help you out.”

No deal was made after Musk stopped responding. The teen wanted to work for a Musk company. I don't know if that's still the case.

Bottom line

I put that in quotes because protecting free speech and allowing online hate and harassment are different things. He promised he wouldn't ban the account after his plane, even though it posed a danger to his life.

Even though nothing has changed, the account has been banned. Automatic updates about the jet's location were posted. It is almost as if.
