YouTube announced AI tools to police livestreams and detect spam comments.

You are being mean. The platform is rolling out a way to let you know if your comment is rude.

If a comment you leave on a video is found to be abusive, you will be pinged by the video sharing platform. If a user gets a notification and continues to post abusive comments, they will be banned from commenting for a day.

The company said in its post that the tests of the feature and punishments proved to be successful. The notification system for English language comments is only available for people who think they have been wrongly chastised.

TeamYouTube said in a post that their goal is to protect creators from users trying to negatively impact the community via comments, as well as offer more transparency to users who may have had comments removed to policy violations.

The new feature was part of a larger announcement made yesterday on efforts to curb rampant abuse on the platform. In addition to notifying users that they are being assholes, YouTube claims to have also been honing its artificial intelligence tools to scraper the website's comment sections for spam and shitty behavior. bots can be detected and removed from live chats on the platform.

The company said in its post that it has been working on improving its automated detection systems. The machine learning models are continually improving to better detect the new types of email.

YouTube has used moderation methods in the past, such as asking you nicely to behave, hiding comments on their own page, and displaying a user's comments on their own profile. The company seems to be trying to moderate its website's discourse with this new feature.
