One year after waiting out the market, Carlos Correa has signed with the San Francisco Giants.

He will make $350 million over 13 years with the Giants. Passan noted that it's the largest contract in baseball history. The fourth largest deal in league history has been claimed by Ken Rosenthal.

A two-time All-Star during his seven seasons with the Houston Astros, he appeared to be in line for one of the biggest long-term contracts in free agency. The Minnesota Twins presented him with a unique deal before he signed.

After each of the first two years of the three-year contract, the opt-out clause was added.

In spite of the Twins limping to a disappointing 78-84 finish in 2022, Correa was a great player.

The Puerto Rican indicated he was leaning towards opting out by making an analogy.

When I go to the mall and I go to the Dior store, I get it. I want to know how much it costs. You just get what you want. The product here is me. They need to come get my product.

He made his decision on the 12th.

"With the year that I have had, my health and my being at the best moment of my career at 28, that is the right decision," he said.

It's rare to have a player as young as Correa. He turned 28 on Sept. 22 and already has a great resume in baseball. He has a.279 slash line with 155 homers.

He has been tied for fifth in weighted on- base average and fourth in wins above replacement since his first season.

He missed 192 games due to injury in the last two years.

Over the past three seasons, there has been no concern about his health. He played over 135 games for the second year in a row despite being on the injured list for a bit.

One of the most important players in baseball is coming to the Giants. He plays good defense and is a great hitter. Brandon Crawford has a year left on his contract and it's not clear what San Francisco will do with him.

The Giants may have come out better if they had gotten Judge.

Even though Judge is the better player, Correa's age and position give him the potential to be anMVP candidate for the first several years of this deal.

After Judge decided to return to the New York Yankees, it seemed like San Francisco would make a lot of noise. It was clear that the team was willing to spend money based on the reported offer.

If the Giants want to have a chance of keeping pace with the Dodgers and Padres in the NL West, they need to be aggressive right now.

After its original plan didn't work out, everyone in San Francisco should be happy that the pivot has been made to add one of the best in baseball.
