Bugs Bunny and Eric Bauza

The one and only Bugs Bunny just celebrated his 80th birthday and just received his first award. Eric Bauza won the award for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program.

It is a big deal for Bugs Bunny, but it is also a big deal for Bauza, who was recognized for his work as not just Bugs but also Marvin the Martian.

There is a person namedMel Blanc. The man of 1000 voices, Mel Blanc, was honored by Eric Bauza as he began his speech. Bauza said that if it wasn't for Mel Blanc, he wouldn't be here today. He created characters that were larger than life. He paid homage to fellow nominees like Tom Kenny and Mark Hamill, who he grew up on, and closed with a nod to the voice legacy. "If you count the 80 years, you have to count the 40 years after Mel," he said.

Warner Bros.' various Oscar-winning shorts, including the Bugs-led Knighty Knight Bugs, are the only ones that Bugs Bunny has ever won. Ten years ago, the show was nominated for two awards, one for Bob Bergen and the other for Wiig. Bauza provides voices on the Looney Tunes cartoons and also highlights the power of animation in his show Stay Tooned, where he highlights diversity behind the mic with his peers and icons.

The future of the current cartoon era is not entirely certain. Bauza is the first voice performer to be honored for their work on a character that is synonymous with Warner Bros.

Stay Tooned is a series that can be watched via clips on YouTube from the series that is streaming on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
