TikTok would be banned from US “for good” under bipartisan bill

Once a deal could be worked out to appease national security concerns, President Joe Biden said that TikTok would remain accessible in the US. It would take months for Biden's administration to make a decision on the deal. The deal that Biden arranged with the Chinese-owned social media platform would endanger the national security of the United States, according to an op-ed written by two congressmen.

Marco and Gallagher are teaming up with a congressman to push for a ban on TikTok in congress. Lawmakers feel that the only way to stop TikTok from collecting sensitive data on Americans for the Chinese Communist Party is to stop it from censoring content.

The federal government hasn't taken any meaningful action to protect American users from the threat of TikTok. It is used to influence elections. The answer to the People's Republic of China is known to us. Time is running out on meaningless negotiations with a company. It is time to end Beijing's control of TikTok.

The bill is designed to block and prevent all transactions by social groups. Existing national security threats include TikTok and ByteDance. It would apply to any social media platform controlled by other US foreign adversaries, including Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela.

According to Brooke Oberwetter, the company considers the legislation to be politically motivated.

Oberwetter told Ars that some members of Congress have decided to push for a politically-motivated ban that will do nothing to advance the national security of the U.S.

According to reports, TikTok agreed to take steps to address US national security concerns, including storing American user data on US server to prevent China-based employees from accessing American data. A TikTok board of security experts that reported directly to the US government will be granted permission by the company.

Oberwetter said that TikTok's motivation was to make sure that millions of Americans who use the platform to learn, grow their businesses, and connect with creative content that brings them joy wouldn't lose access.

According to Oberwetter, a joyful experience that more than 100 million Americans have using TikTok, is giving Americans access to digital Fentanyl that is addicting, collects troves of their data, and censors their news.

The New York Times, Washington Post, and major broadcast networks were bought up by the Soviets during the Cold War.

Forbes showed that TikTok planned to use the app to monitor the locations of American citizens for undisclosed purposes unrelated to advertising.

At a time when the Chinese Communist Party and our other adversaries abroad are seeking any advantage they can find against the United States, it is imperative that we don't allow hostile powers.

It would be too risky for Biden's deal to allow TikTok to operate in the US while China still controls ByteDance. ByteDance could be required to hand over data by the country's National Intelligence Law if ByteDance is owned by China.

There's a lot of concern on both sides of the aisle over how to handle TikTok's growing popularity in the US. He told Ars that he's worried about the evidence that shows TikTok'scensorship. Krishnamoorthi told Ars that it's a toxic brew of concerns that people are sharing.

The pressing need to protect Americans from these risks is highlighted by the recent revelations of TikTok's ties to theCCP.

The only acceptable way for TikTok to operate in the US would be if Biden could make it happen.

They did not comment further on the matter.

Oberwetter said that TikTok will continue to work to convince US officials that it isn't a national security risk.

Oberwetter told Ars that they will brief members of Congress on the plans that have been developed under the oversight of the country's top security agencies.
