San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to be out for three weeks with knee and ankle injuries.

According to the 49ers, the player had a left knee injury and a left ankle injury. He was expected to come back during the regular season.

Samuel landed awkwardly after carrying the ball up the middle in the 49ers' victory over the Buccaneers. As he was carted off the field, he was emotional.

The South Carolina product has played in 54 games this season and has 54 catches for 612 yards and two touchdown.

One of the most productive offensive players in the NFL last season was Samuel, who racked up 1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 touchdown on his way to earning first-team All- Pro honors.

He was given a three-year contract extension by the 49ers in July.
