My take on French Bee’s new service to Miami

There is a market in Paris to Miami.

  • Air France dominates, and operates up to two daily flights between Paris and Miami
  • Even though American has a hub in Miami, interestingly the airline only flies between Paris and Miami seasonally; the route operates in the winter season, and not the summer season
  • In 2019, Corsair briefly flew between Paris and Miami, but the route hasn’t operated since the start of the pandemic, so I guess that didn’t work out

The demand for trans-Atlantic goods and services in and out of Miami is different than other markets. Miami is more popular with Europeans from the UK than it is with them from France.

If I am wrong, someone will correct me, but I believe Miami to Paris is the only winter route between the US and Europe. It seems that there is strong demand for the route from Paris to Miami but not from Miami to Paris.

Competition and consumers will benefit from a second year-round competitor. The per-seat costs for French Bee are very low. I think that the growth of the airline in the US will continue. I'm curious if French Bee can make this service work all year.

Bottom line

The new flight between Paris and Miami will use the A350. Air France will face only one year-round competition in the market, as American only operates this route on a seasonal basis.

I am curious to see if French Bee can succeed in this market, given the struggles that other airlines have had here.
